Now Accepting Applications for 2013-14

ENROLLMENT PROCESS

At Children’s Meeting House we follow the classic Montessori model for educating children in
three-year cycles. These cycles correspond to our Pre-Primary (ages 3 to 6), Junior (ages 6 to 9)
and Senior (ages 9 to 12) programs. While students can be enrolled at any time during any cycle,
especially if they are coming from another Montessori school, the usual and preferable practice
is to enroll students at the beginning of a cycle. Similarly, students can be enrolled at any time
during the school year, but the usual and preferable practice is to enroll students prior to the
beginning of a school year.

Enrolling a student comprises the following steps:

1. Touring or observing at the school (if applicable — see below)
2. Applying for Enrollment or Re-Enrollment (including classroom visit)
3. Making decisions relating to acceptance

1. Touring or Observing

Before accepting any student at Children’s Meeting House, we want to make sure that the school
is a good fit for the child and his or her family, and that the child is a good fit for the school. For
this reason we require families who are considering enrolling a child for the first time to tour our
school. To do so, please call the office at 513-683-4757 to schedule a date. When you come for
your tour, we will provide you with additional information and all necessary application forms.

With respect to children who are already enrolled at Children’s Meeting House and are
considering moving up to the next program (i.e., from Pre-Primary to Junior or from Junior
to Senior), we require that parents observe in a class at the level to which their child would be
transitioning. Please call the school and arrange to do this before completing the Re-Enrollment
Form.

2. Applying for Enrollment or Re-Enrollment

After touring the school, a family may apply to enroll a student at Children’s Meeting House for
the first time by completing a New Student Enrollment Application(pdf)and returning it, along
with the non-refundable application fee of $150.00 per child, to the school office. For students
applying to enroll in our Junior or Senior program, a classroom visit is required as part of the
enrollment process; see below for more details. (Classroom visits are not required for applicants
to the Pre-Primary program.)

To re-enroll a continuing student at Children’s Meeting House, a family must complete a Re-
Enrollment Form (pdf)
and return it to the school office. For students enrolling in the Junior or
Senior program for the first time, a classroom visit is required as part of the enrollment process;
see below for more details.

Classroom Visits

For prospective Elementary students a classroom visit is required as part of the enrollment
process. For new students applying for enrollment for the first time, we will contact you to
schedule a classroom visit after we receive your New Student Enrollment Application. For
continuing students in the third year of a cycle, we schedule days during the spring semester for

these students to visit a classroom at the next level. Visiting children spend two consecutive days
in their prospective classroom, during the regular school-day hours.

Priority Enrollment

Children’s Meeting House has a Priority Enrollment policy, which states that current students and
their siblings are given first priority for enrollment in January and February. Remaining openings
are offered to new families when Priority Enrollment closes. For the 2013-14 school year the
Priority Enrollment period begins on January 28, 2013 and ends on February 22, 2013.

3. Acceptance

Acceptance of Students New to Children’s Meeting House

Based upon a your visit(s) to the school, your New Student Enrollment Application, and any
other material information pertinent to your situation, the teachers and Head of School will
cooperatively decide whether to accept your child(ren) for enrollment. When the decision is
affirmative, we will notify you of the acceptance and prepare a tuition contract based on the
tuition payment plan you selected. If you decide to complete the enrollment, you (parents) will
need to sign and return the tuition contract with a non-refundable enrollment deposit of 10% of
the annual tuition for each enrolled student. Upon our receipt of your signed tuition contract and
enrollment deposit, we will guarantee the placement of your child(ren).

Acceptance of Continuing Students

Continuing students in good standing are considered accepted for the coming school year upon
our receipt of a Re-Enrollment Form for them, provided that there is classroom space for them
when we receive their Re-Enrollment Form. Continuing families are reminded that remaining
classroom spaces will be opened up to new families when the Priority Enrollment period ends.

Provisional Acceptance

Every new student is accepted provisionally (for six weeks) pending a decision by the classroom
teachers regarding the ability of the student to have a successful experience and the ability of
the teachers to meet her or his needs. For purposes of this policy a new student is defined as any
student entering any program at Children’s Meeting House for the first time. This applies to any
student entering Children’s Meeting House from another environment for the first time as well as
to continuing students moving from one program to the next within Children’s Meeting House.

Enrollment Forms and School Supply Lists

After we receive your signed tuition contract and enrollment deposit, we will provide you with
a password (usually in May or June) to access the “Parent’s LOG IN” section of our website.
Here you will be able to access your annual enrollment forms (student information form, physical
examination form, release forms, etc.), school supply lists, and other important information that
you will need in order to prepare for the new school year.

Non-Discrimination Policy

Children’s Meeting House Montessori School admits students of any race, color, religion, and
national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded
or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or
national or ethnic origin in administration of policies, scholarship and loan programs, or athletic
and other school-administered programs.
